Final Blog Summary Post

The INTERSECT is an innovative consumer product that has the potential to change how a college campus works. In the beginning stages of this entrepreneurial idea, the INTERSECT would be able to give you directions from a INTERSECT location to a building on campus and give you the option to log in to a social networking site to check in your location. Needless to say, throughout the course of this project, the INTERSECT’s possibilities have grown thanks to the great feedback I have received from classmates as well as the Graduate Assistant.
The possibilities of how the INTERSECT can work and interact with it’s customers are endless. Throughout the project, I have increased the amount of things that the INTERSECT will do. This includes, giving you bus schedules, providing dining hall meals, and voice recognition software. All of these have made the INTERSECT a better project, as well as a more advanced and innovated idea.
Through this project, I had the ability to learn more about various topics that we learned in class, such as networks, social media, and privacy and apply their concepts to my entrepreneurial idea. This was helpful in understanding how these conceptions and technological products could be used in a real world situation. I also enjoyed sharing with my readers, a famous Vlogger who I find to be very interesting, funny, and informative. I hope that through my blogs you felt like you were part of my process. I became part of my peer’s process when I commented on their blogs. You can see the comments that I posted by clicking the links below.

Week 8- Networks

This weeks topic of Networks can be integrated into the INTERSECT product in a large variety of ways. Networks are incorporated in how the product works internally. It also has an impact on the transactions and commands that users put into the INTERSECT
When a user sends a request on the INTERSECT, such as asking for directions there request will be divided up into millions and millions packets that will go to a destination and then will be sent back with the necessary information. The INTERSECT will follow web protocols by following this 4 step process between client and web server
1.     Get a connection
2.     Make a request for a file
3.     Website gets the request and sends you file
4.     Web server closes connection
In conjunction to this, every INTERSECT device will have an IP address, so that it can communicate with other devices across the internet. The IP address will be unique with numbers pertaining to the college campus that it’s located on and also the area on campus that its at so that it can receive back requests. The INTERSECT is a program that is always up on the tablet device, so it does not really need a domain name to users. However, there will be a website that will have a domain name that customers can go to for information on the product, as well as product locations and services. This will all help the INTERSECT become a better product and work to ensure that it functions properly.

Week 7- Blog (in my case Vlog) Review

Instead of writing about a well know blogger, I’ve decided to write about a very well known VLOGGER, ijustine. She is a very famous YouTube video maker, as well as Internet celebrity. She is very influential on technology and apple products in particular, hence the name ijustine. Her main YouTube channel with 1,266,000 subscribers where she does many skits and parody’s is more popular than her vlog channel, which has 511,000 subscribers. She has been nominated for best vlogger at the streamy awards, as well as choice web star for the teen choice awards. She won the best web personality/host at the Webby Awards. These awards represent her success within the world of technology and video making.
I will focus on her vlog channel because that is what the topic of this blog is supposed to be about. Her vlogs are usually very exciting because she gets sponsored by many company’s to go to events for their technological products all over the world and cover their new products. She updates her viewers almost daily with videos showing her travels, as well as experiences. She owns hundreds of the newest products in technology and she has reviewed and talked about them in many of her vlogs. It is through her love and technology that she has been able to have a career representing many different devices and new products. She often covers new product releases in her vlogs and is often at events for new product press conferences.
Her username, ijustine comes from her love and obsession of Apple Products. She always has the most up to date Mac products and has many of each. To fit her needs as a video editor she has several different MacBook’s, as well as multiple iMacs. This helps her fit her needs of keeping up with technology, as well as editing her videos together. She went to the unveiling of the first Ipad and vlogged this event with her reviewers. She is obsessed with her IPhone and is always tweeting and uploading vlog videos from it. Ijustine’s ability to connect with her viewers through her vlogs is what makes her successful. She gives viewers the opportunity of seeing many different things that they can’t in real life.

Week 6- Bits and Bytes

Bits and bytes are used greatly in my entrepreneurial idea. They help make the product better, as well as more user oriented. They are important to many different aspects of the INTERSECT such as memory storage, and processing speed The INTERSECT will use bits and bytes for all of these aspects.
Firstly, the INTERSECT will have a certain capacity for memory storage. This measured standard will be for the Ipad system that the INTERSECT will be used on. For memory storage of people’s names, gender, age, as well as destinations and social networking sites to check in there will be a told of 64 GB (Gigabytes) which is a total of 67,108,864 Bytes which Is made up of 536,870,912 Bits.
Also using Bits and Bytes will be used within the processing speed power in the IPad. The processor that will be used to help with speed is measured in Bytes. This shows the length of time that it will take when you put in a command into the INTERSECT software. It is important to have a high processing speed time so that users wont have to wait for their commands to process and they can get all the INTERSECT has to offer FAST. Bits and Bytes are essential to the way the INTERSECT will work and are a large part of the product.

Week5- Input and Output

There are an infinite number of ways that this weeks topic of input and output can be tied into my INTERSECT product. By using this product you are imputing data as well as receiving data back as an output. With this comes the monumental task of how input and output will be incorporated into the INTERSECT to better serve the everyday user.
The topic of Input will largely be incorporated into the INTERSECT product. You can input various forms of information onto the INTERECT. This may include desired destination or your location on a social media site. Also, I would like to incorporate another feature into the INTERSECT based on a comment that I received. The INTERSECT will also have the ability to share with you meals at dining halls for various days, as well as bus schedules and campus events. All of this will be inputted using a touch screen tablet. This is to take up as less space possible by putting the “keyboard” on the screen. Also, possibly in the future when the INTERSECT becomes more advanced and as voice input and recognition evolves people can talk to the device and it will recognize the commands.
The screen will basically be the output device for the INTERSECT as you will view everything that you need to know on it. The display device will be the tablet device IPad, as previously stated. Another possible output device that I feel would be very useful to users for a small fee is a printer. Users will be able to print out directions to their class, meal menus, bus schedules, and even campus activities right from the intersect device. A thermal printer will be used so that cost remains low to the INTERSECT company, as well as the users. Input and Output work together to increase the potential of the INTERSECT and work to make it a better product.
